What type of bass lesson to you offer?

At our Sherman Oaks studio, we offer bass lessons in a clean state of the art studio. For beginner bass students a fretted bass is the most popular and most recommended way to learn. Advanced bass students can latter move on to the fretless bass as well as have the option of lessons for 5 string and 6 string bass guitar. Our bass teachers at Join The Band are university trained professionals and well versed in all the classic and popular styles. Rock, Blues, Slap bass, Funk, Jazz, Reggae and more!

We also have our popular Join The Band® program  that bass students can join to play in a real band setting. Playing in a band is the most practical way to apply your bass lessons.

Do you offer online bass guitar lessons?

Yes. Our teachers are also trained to give you the best online bass guitar lesson experience. With younger children it is best to have a parent assist with the online experience. Click here for our Online Lessons page.

What is the right age for bass lessons?

Learning to play bass guitar depends on the size of the student’s hands. Eight to nine years is the youngest we recommend for bass lessons. Though we do take it case by case. Because of their smaller hands, the physical part of holding the guitar neck, pushing down strings with their fingertips, and holding a pick can be very difficult for young children. We do have kids as young as six years old taking  bass lessons, but we prefer to evaluate them first at our Sherman Oaks studio.

Do you teach lessons for teens and adults?

Yes, we have many teenage and adult bass students. Many of them also participate in our “Join the Band” band program. Learning bass guitar while playing in a weekly band classes supports the students understanding of their role as a bass player. Whether you prefer blues, rock, soul, jazz, metal, funk, reggae, country, etc… we have the right teachers to help you reach your goals.
